Jewelry Certificates and Diamond Grading

Confidence Through Documentation

At Harbour Galleries, we believe that trust begins with transparency. Whether you’re purchasing a one-of-a-kind estate piece or bringing in a family heirloom for evaluation, you deserve complete confidence in what you own.

This Certificate Gallery showcases the level of documentation and grading detail you can expect from our professional appraisal services — performed through our affiliated company.

All appraisals and verifications are conducted by Alan, a certified gemologist with decades of experience identifying gemstones, evaluating antique jewelry, and documenting pieces for insurance, estate, and personal records.

Understanding Diamond Grading: The 4Cs

Each appraisal and certificate includes:

Cut

A diamond’s proportions, symmetry, and polish. More than shape, the cut determines brilliance.

Color

Graded on a scale from D (colorless) to Z (light yellow or brown). Antique diamonds often have warmer tones.

Clarity

The presence (or absence) of internal or external flaws, known as inclusions or blemishes.

Carat Weight

A measure of the diamond’s weight, not necessarily its size.

We use these standards when evaluating antique, vintage, and modern diamonds — whether they’re part of a purchase, appraisal, or custom design.

Sample Certificates and Reports

Each appraisal and certificate includes:

  • High-resolution imagery of the jewelry item, showing all relevant details
  • Complete gemstone and metal identification, including diamond grading (when applicable)
  • Measurement and weight breakdowns for all major stones
  • Clarity, cut, color, and carat weight details following industry grading standards
  • Professional narrative description, including setting style, era, and condition
  • Purpose of valuation — insurance, estate, liquidation, resale
  • Estimated market value with supporting rationale
  • Gemologist’s signature, date, and credentials

This level of detail not only protects the owner’s investment but also adds long-term value to the piece for future resale or inheritance.

Why Documentation Matters
